Surety Bond Quarterly: Impact of COVID-19 on Commercial Surety Bonds
Amanda Miceli was a featured co-author for the Spring 2021 issue of Surety Bond Quarterly with an article titled, “Impact of COVID-19 on Commercial Surety Bonds.” The article outlines several forces that may have affected commercial sureties’ operations throughout the pandemic – including crude oil prices, changes in the retail landscape and reimbursement difficulties – and offers proactive measures for their principals to protect themselves and course-correct.
Amanda notes, “While the pandemic has proven that no one can predict the future, preparation on the front end of these unprecedented times is the key to properly arming the surety when we reach the back end of the pandemic and the inevitable commercial claims that follow. Given the renewed lockdown measures implemented in several major economies, discerning the impact of COVID-19 on the commercial surety industry requires vigilance and continuous close monitoring of not only individual principals, but also global markets to minimize further losses.”
