NJBIZ: Private Equity Gains Appetite for Food

Edward Stevenson was featured in a recent NJBIZ article, “Private Equity Gains Appetite for Food,” discussing how e-commerce has allowed small businesses to quickly expand their product sales and distribution nationally and internationally, which in turn has led private equity (“PE”) firms to become more interested in the food business.

According to Ed, “With consumer goods, including food and beverage products, PE firms are looking for companies that need the business acumen or the financial resources to take the organization or product to the next level.” He also advises that once a PE firm becomes involved, they usually plan a three-to-five year exit strategy, which may mean taking the company public or selling to another PE group or strategic buyer.
