Michelle Schaap of CSG Law Recognized by NJBIZ for Leadership in Digital Technology

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG Law”) is pleased to announce that Michelle Schaap, the firm’s Chair of Tech, Privacy and Data Innovations, was recently named to the NJBIZ Leaders in Digital Technology list for 2024.

Michelle is on the cutting edge of cybersecurity and law, from her founding the firm’s Privacy & Data Security practice in 2015 to her co-founding CSG Law’s Tech, Privacy and Data Innovations Group in 2023.

“In the digital technology space, I believe my greatest contribution to the firm as a cyber and privacy attorney has been my guidance to and collaboration with our Information Security team to develop, implement and execute an information system and security program, including: technology vendor vetting program; firm policies and procedures on cybersecurity and risk management; training of personnel on cyber mindfulness; incident response planning; leading tabletop exercises; and creating a firm culture of awareness to ” she said.

Michelle’s stellar reputation precedes her, making her the first call clients make when faced with a cybersecurity breach – serving as a “quarterback” to the response team and working closely with executives, forensics professionals, law enforcement and other critical stakeholders.

A Certified Information Privacy Professional, awarded from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, with a concentration on U.S. private-sector law, and a Co-Chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals New Jersey KnowledgeNet Chapter, she values developing a proactive response and recovery plan and works with clients in contract review. Recently, her practice of cybersecurity preparedness has included counseling clients on the benefits and risks associated with generative AI resources.
