Essex County Bar Association Honors Frank J. Giantomasi with Samuel S. Saiber Professional Achievement Award
The Essex County Bar Association (“ECBA”) honored Francis J. Giantomasi (“Frank”) of CSG Law with the Samuel S. Saiber Professional Achievement Award earlier this week, which recognizes an attorney whose achievements demonstrate an unwavering dedication to the fair and efficient administration of justice.
“The practice and professional life of an attorney nominated to receive this award should reflect the vision of Samuel S. Saiber himself, who stated ‘Earning a livelihood practicing our profession is important, but unless, with it all, we have a continuous sense of our obligation to promote justice and the public good, we have failed to carry out our solemn pledge,” the ECBA said.
Not only is Frank, a Member with CSG Law’s Redevelopment, Land Use & Zoning Group and the firm’s Executive Committee, one of the best-known lawyers in the state, but he’s also regarded as a leader in planning, zoning and development law, including tax abatement law for the city of Newark and urban areas.
Frank’s recent accomplishments include the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s signature master plan for a mixed-use redevelopment on 6.1 acres surrounding the cultural institution that would create a new arts neighborhood, as well as redevelopment and land use counsel to LEG-BP Bayonne Owner – the developer of a 152.9-acre site slated for port-related development – in a pivotal land swap agreement with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Frank has represented numerous developers on projects over the years including Netflix’s recent successful bid to convert the former Fort Monmouth Army base into a state-of-the-art production facility; the $35 million Newark Courtyard by Marriott hotel; the Newark Hotel Indigo; seven historic building conversions on Market Street developed into 35,000 square feet of retail with more than 80 residential units in a $35 million mixed-use project and much more. And for CSG Law itself, Frank helmed the firm’s lease committee in the design, development and build of its new 120,000 sf headquarters in Roseland, NJ.
In addition, Frank chairs the board of trustees of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, and he sits on the board of advisors for Saint Peter’s University’s Guarini School of Business in Jersey City.
