CSG Cannabis Clients Awarded Licenses Pursuant to New Jersey’s 2019 Alternative Treatment Center RFA

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG”) congratulates cannabis clients GSCC Management LLC (“GSCC”) and ZY Labs LLC (“ZY”) on their successful bids to cultivate medical cannabis in New Jersey pursuant to the State’s 2019 Alternative Treatment Center Request for Applications process (“RFA”).

GSCC was awarded a cultivation license in the State’s North region, while ZY earned licensure in the Central region. Notably, while ZY was initially disqualified from the process in December 2019, that decision was promptly appealed and, in February 2021, the State’s Appellate Division reversed the disqualification – remanding back to the Department of Health the client’s application for evaluation and consideration as part of the greater slate of RFA applicants.

CSG’s Cannabis Law Group, led by Lee Vartan, represented both applicant groups throughout the two-year application process – and, in ZY’s case, throughout the appeal as well.

“While it has undoubtedly been a lengthy process, we are immensely proud of these clients and have absolute confidence that they will hit the ground running on production to help the State meet the needs of its growing medicinal cannabis patient population,” notes Vartan.
