CSG Named Finalist for Law Firm of the Year Award, Earns Recognition in Three Other Categories of New Jersey Law Journal's 2021 New Jersey Legal Awards
Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG”) is pleased to announce that it has earned recognition at the firmwide, practice and individual levels as part of the New Jersey Law Journal’s 2021 New Jersey Legal Awards program. The firm has been named a finalist for the publication’s Law Firm of the Year Award, which recognizes the New Jersey-based firm that has best demonstrated a broad spectrum of achievements and talent depth in the past year.
CSG practices and individuals who have earned 2021 New Jersey Legal Awards include:
- The firm’s Real Estate, Development & Land Use Group – Dealmakers of the Year Award, which honors the state’s leading transactional lawyers for their accomplishments over the past year.
- Shirley U. Emehelu, Chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and a member of the firm’s Litigation Group – Innovator Award, recognizing lawyers who are creatively tackling legal and/or business of law issues, be that through cultural innovations, communications or other areas.
- Jenny Chung, an Associate with the firm’s Litigation Group – New Leaders of the Bar, highlighting attorneys under the age of 40 who bring both notable achievements and outstanding potential to the table.
“This outstanding range of recognition brilliantly reflects the firmwide excellence we strive to achieve daily. The composition of stories to share from the more than 280 members of the CSG family – including Shirley, Jenny and every individual on our real estate team – is precisely what makes this firm a special place,” noted Daniel A. Schwartz, CSG’s Managing Member. “We congratulate our honorees on the incredibly well-deserved recognition and thank all of our employees for their unique contributions towards making this Law Firm of the Year finalist designation possible.”
The full slate of 2021 New Jersey Legal Awards honorees will be recognized, and the Law Firm of the Year winner announced, at an awards gala in September 2021.
Real Estate, Development & Land Use Group – 2021 Dealmakers of the Year
CSG’s Real Estate, Development & Land Use Group takes pride in its reputation as skilled problem solvers and connectors linking major players in all segments of the region’s real estate market – including owners, developers, investors, lenders, asset managers, tenants and contractors – to execute transformative projects. Over the course of 2020, the Group spearheaded several marquee acquisitions, redevelopments, financing and lease transactions illustrating the powerhouse scope of capabilities it brings to bear in representing its diverse client base. Despite the extraordinary scale and breadth of the projects in the team’s pipeline, what makes it most remarkable is its full-service scope – bridging the gap between transactional and administrative law. And that’s exactly what clients get when working with the Group and the firm at-large: a fully integrated advisor that is not only laser-focused in pursuit of their goals, but that is also a seamless, united front in achieving them.
Shirley U. Emehelu – 2021 Innovator
Ms. Emehelu has undoubtedly brought an innovative approach to her role as Chair of CSG’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Beyond furthering the firm’s commitment to the recruitment, development and retention of minority attorneys and professional staff since initially taking on the role, she has gone above and beyond to help preserve CSG’s longstanding culture of collegiality, unity and excellence in service to clients, to colleagues and to the surrounding community. She recognizes that maintaining a rewarding, equitable corporate culture and experience for our employees directly contributes to enduring organizational success, as well as the central role that the principles of diversity and inclusion can drive towards this end.
Jenny Chung – 2021 New Leader of the Bar
As an associate with CSG’s Litigation Group, Ms. Chung focuses her practice on criminal and civil litigation. Her fingerprints are embedded on a myriad of high-stakes, sensitive matters involving the defense of businesses and individuals facing claims of alleged wrongdoing. Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Chung recently completed her tenure as President of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey, the State’s only Pan-Asian bar association, where her role took on new meaning in light of the rise of Anti-Asian hate incidents taking place across the State and nation. In response to this scourge, she led APALA-NJ in assembling and moderating a powerhouse roundtable, “Anti-AAPI Violence: Federal, State, and Local Leaders Call to Action,” comprised of the State’s leading lawmakers and legal influencers to address the surge of violence against the Asian/Pacific American community and policies addressing the same.
