“Finding your voice” was among the most prevalent themes covered at a Nice Girl Army reception held in Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC’s (“CSG”) New York City office on March 20, 2019. The reception–co-hosted by CSG member and white collar defense attorney, Danielle M. Corcione, and long-time media executive, investor and best-selling author of The Myth of the Nice Girl, Fran Hauser–featured highly-regarded voice coach, Broadway actor and founder of Vital Voice Training, Casey Erin Clark, as a guest speaker.
Ideated by Hauser in 2018 to coincide with her book launch, the Nice Girl Army began as an online mailing list of women seeking to support and provide feedback on The Myth of the Nice Girl. The group has since evolved into an interactive idea exchange and digital support system with several participants securing new jobs, promotions and raises through the advice received from their fellow “nice girls.”
The March 20 reception was attended by more than 40 local women executives who participated in a number of interactive vocal exercises led by Clark exploring how voices work, what makes them distinct and how vocal patterns can be established and modified.
During her welcoming remarks, Hauser reflected on the dynamic e-community’s origins: “It began with just a small group of women, Danielle included, who came forward and said, ‘I really want to help you with your book launch.’ Now, a year later, the group has turned into a growing collective of incredible women supporting each other as they rise through their careers.”
“I am delighted to share this evening with Fran, Casey and all of you, and I am tremendously grateful to Fran for curating this amazing group of interesting, talented, high-achieving and entrepreneurial women,” added Corcione.
Hauser provided attendees with advance paperback copies of The Myth of the Nice Girl, which releases on April 17, 2019.
