Paralegals and Staff

Staff are an integral part of the Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi team. We are always interested in considering well-qualified and talented non-attorney personnel.

We hire seasoned, experienced paralegals that hold an AA/AS or BA/BS degree and a paralegal certificate. Female paralegals are invited to participate in the firm’s Women’s Initiative and to become members of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association.

Available Positions 


Legal Assistant:
The legal assistant will support attorneys in the Corporate, Real Estate or Litigation department. The assistant will provide administrative support, including preparing legal documents and correspondence, answering all incoming telephone calls, as well as standard secretarial duties, that may include filing, document reproduction, opening new client/matters with conflict searches, maintaining client files, time entry using a computer based billing system, expense reimbursements, maintaining email and calendar, and word processing.

Candidates must have strong attention to detail, project management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and meet multiple deadlines. Requirements include: prior experience in a law firm or corporate setting; excellent command of MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel; eDocs or similar document management experience; Rainmaker Platinum or similar billing software experience. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of secretarial experience. Submissions should include “Legal Assistant” in the subject line.


Intellectual Property Group

Patent Prosecution Legal Assistant: We have an immediate opening for a patent prosecution legal assistant with 3+ years’ experience in the West Orange, NJ office. The legal assistant will support attorneys in the Patent department. The assistant will provide administrative support, including preparing and filing U.S. patent applications, effectively manage dockets of assigned attorneys and/or patent agents, report correspondence accurately and timely and maintain accurate paper and electronic files in accordance with firm/practice group guidelines and procedures. The assistant will also provide standard administrative duties, including filing, document reproduction, opening new client/matters with conflict searches, maintaining client files, time entry using time sheets and computer based billing system, maintaining email and calendar, and word processing.

Candidates must have strong attention to detail, good analytical and problem solving skills, project management skills and the capability to organize, prioritize and meet multiple deadlines. Requirements include: prior experience in a law firm; excellent command of MS Office, eDocs or similar document management experience; Rainmaker Platinum or similar billing software experience. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience with patent prosecution. Submissions should include “Patent Legal Assistant” in the subject line.
